He graduated from Marshall High School in 1970 and went on to study at Michigan Tech, Southern Illinois University, and Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara.
On May 8, 1976 he married Peg Baylis at Calvary Baptist Church in Marshall. He and Peg faithfully attended church services every week and are members of Grace Baptist Church of Marshall.
Some of his employment included the Malleable, Sears, and Bostik of Marshall. He was a person that had many interests. Besides photography, he enjoyed farming, gardening, woodworking, hunting, and especially building things. He loved working with his hands, and there was nothing that he couldn’t fix or build. He was always looking forward to his next projects and purchasing new tools to complete them.
He loved his kids and grandkids. In the winter he loved to pull them around the yard on the toboggan, trying to throw them off. He enjoyed going to their basketball and volleyball games.
Surviving are his wife Peg, daughter Rachel (Dan) Larder of Marshall, son Pastor Roger (Stacie) of Bourbon, Indiana; grandkids Grace, Megan, Blake and Jack Larder and Ellie and Naomi Stuart and baby boy Stuart arriving in November. Also surviving are brothers Bruce Stuart, Ernie Stuart, and sister Martha Stuart.
He was faithful to his Lord and will be greatly missed. If memorials wish to be made, do so to Youth Haven Ranch.
A Private Graveside Service will be held for the family officiated by Pastor Brandon Crawford of Grace Baptist Church.
Services entrusted to the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, MI 4224
