Born on September 25, 1947, in Albion, Michigan, Rusty lived a life defined by service, hard work, family, and friendship. A lifelong resident of Albion, he touched countless lives through his generosity, strong work ethic, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
In 1969, Rusty married Shirley Klein, beginning a loving partnership that spanned 57 years. Together they built a family that remained the center of his life and greatest source of pride.
Rusty proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. During his military service, he demonstrated exceptional courage and dedication, earning the Purple Heart for his valor and sacrifice. He remained deeply committed to supporting fellow veterans throughout his life and was a proud member of the V.F.W. for many years.
Following his military service, Rusty returned to Albion and joined Albion Malleable as a Journeyman Millwright for many years. While there, Rusty also built his company, Rusty 4 Farms, from the ground up. Through determination, perseverance, and countless hours of hard work, he established a successful business providing logging, tree service, lumber, pallets, and firewood throughout Michigan. Even into the final months of his life, Rusty remained actively involved in the business he loved. More than building a business, Rusty built opportunities for people. He welcomed employees from all walks of life and took pride in helping them succeed, always making sure they had the tools and resources they needed both on the job and in their personal lives.
Anyone who knew Rusty knew he never met a stranger. Whether striking up a conversation with someone he had known for years or someone he had just met, he had a gift for making people feel welcome. He enjoyed watching sports, especially cheering on the Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines.
Rusty was also an active member of the Albion Eagles and the Moose Lodge, where he enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie he found over the years. He was passionate about supporting veterans and veteran-run organizations, always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
When he wasn't working, Rusty could often be found riding his motorcycle, cruising in his beloved water wagon, or enjoying a game of Bridge or Cribbage with family and friends. Some of his happiest moments were spent at family gatherings, taking his favorite little ones for rides and creating memories they will cherish forever.
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Norm and Libby Hull.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Shirley Hull; daughter, Michon (Nick) Bommarito; son, Titus Hull; grandchildren, Andrea (Kyle) Pollock, Brittny (Justin) Wandel, and Emily (Alfredo 'Frito' Basa) Bommarito; five treasured great-grandchildren, Adrian, Raiden, Esmae, Auri, and Rowan; brother, Mitch (Marie) Hull; niece, Carolyn (Josh) Stump; and nephew, David Hull, and many loving friends.
