

Thomas Donald Spangler, of Parma and Albion, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025, at Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. He was born on March 31, 1958, in Albion at Sheldon Memorial Hospital.
Tom is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Janet Sue Spangler. He is survived by his father, Donald E. Spangler; his brother, Scott D. Spangler, and sister-in-law, Ces Spangler; his three children and three grandchildren: daughter Sara M. Whitmire and her husband Freddie Whitmire Jr.; son Tommy S. Spangler and his wife Heather M. Spangler, along with their two sons, Brogan and Brady Spangler; and son Nicholas J. Spangler, his fiancé Phoebe Bond, and their daughter Maive Spangler. He is also survived by the mothers of his children. Former wife Debbie Hamlet, mother of Nicholas and Maria Hernandez, mother of Sara and Tommy.
Tom attended Western Schools and dedicated his life to hard work and loyalty, spending 50 years in manufacturing with Decker Manufacturing in Albion, where he retired. He was an avid softball player for many years and a die-hard fan of Detroit sports. Whether it was football, basketball, baseball, hockey, or racing, Tom never missed “The Game with his family.”
He had a deep love for life, family, and friends. Tom enjoyed camping, classic cars, and listening to ballads from the '60s through the '90s. He also had a great appreciation for good food and good company.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place. A private memorial lunch with family and close friends will be held at Freeway Church in Albion at a later date.
