Viola Louise Green

Viola Louise Green (Custer) age 89 passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 in Lansing under the loving care of her family and Heartland Hospice. She was born in Garfield Twp., Kalkaska County, MI one of nine children born to Thomas and Zoe (Gibbons) Custer.

Viola was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and hard-worker. She loved to work, previously owning and operating her own restaurant. She served many years as a waitress and loved her clientele as she was truly a “people person”. She also spent many years taking care of her mother in her home when she fell ill and enjoyed crocheting in her younger years.

Viola leaves behind 5 children: Tom (Cindy) Cockroft, Patricia Orsborn, Richard (Linda) Cockroft, Rob (Pam) Cockroft, Jeff Cockroft, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, sisters, Chick Anderson, Joyce Angel and brother, Jake Custer. She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 siblings.

According to Viola’s wishes, cremation will take place and she will be laid to rest in Garfield Cemetery in Kalkaska County, MI.
