Viola Junior (Craig) was born April 15, 1921 in Millry, Alabama to Lillie Mae Hayes. Viola’s father was unknown, due to him being killed when she was an infant. On February 5, 1955 in Angola, Indiana Viola married the love of her life, Lee Edward Junior whom preceded her in death. Before his death they were married 50 years.
Viola accepted Christ at a young age. She attended Macedonia Baptist Church, Albion, Michigan where she sang faithfully in the choir. Viola loved to laugh and always had a way of making others do the same. She also had a special place in her heart for the elderly. Her favorite pass time was sewing, gardening, needle pointing, and cooking. On any given Sunday, you could count on her having a pot of collard greens and cornbread. Before her health began to deteriorate, she enjoyed taking brisk walks. Viola loved her family, church family, and friends.
Viola a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother leaves to cherish her memory: daughter Ora Sims, Detroit, Michigan; three grandchildren, Alana Sims, Albion Michigan, Dreylan Sims, Detroit, Michigan, and Brendan Sims, Albion, Michigan; one great grand, Covan Sims, Albion, Michigan and a host of nieces and nephews.
Viola was preceded in death by: mother, Lillie Mae Hayes; husband, Lee Edward Junior; brother, Nathaniel Craig Sr.; sisters, Cora Mae Hayes, Ora B. Davis, and Lucille McMeans.
Family Hour will be on Friday, July 10, 2020 from 11:00AM – 12:00PM at J. Kevin Tidd
