William Henry Hamilton Jr.
April 16, 1925 – March 7, 2018
William Henry Hamilton Jr. answered the Call and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 7th 2018. Rejoicing with him are his daughter Christal Faye Hamilton; caretakers great niece Nicki, Jon, Joshua, Kristen, Andrew, Nicholas and Zachary Logan as well as a host of nieces, nephews and loving friends. William was born April 16th 1925 in Wise, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Hamilton Sr., mother, Rose Ella Hamilton, brothers, Roy (Bertha), Victor (Lola), Carl (Grace), sister, Violet (Ezra), step-son, Larry Joseph Taylor, and step-daughter, Carol Jane Taylor. William joined the Army in 1945 and was assigned to the Army Air Corps RA and then chose the Air Force AF when it was started in 1947. His service travels and tours of duty took him to Panama, Alabama, Illinois, Texas, California, Japan (where he worked early warning radar and tracked General MacArthur’s attack thru Inchon Harbor that allowed the recovery of Seoul, Korea)Tennessee (where he taught Instrument flying), New Jersey, Germany, England, Newfoundland, New York, Mississippi and Oklahoma. He retired from military service in 1964 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. William was a member of Cook’s Prairie Church (now Anchor Baptist) for 45+ years where he taught Sunday School and treated all the kids to a stick of gum earning him the nickname “The Gum Man”. He had a long and memorable career in the military but as Uncle Bill (as he was commonly known), stated in his “Military Career Memoirs”: “I can now say that I am in a different career and, although the components of the Army I am now in are not military in nature, it is still warfare. My Commander is the Lord Jesus Christ and victory is sure. God has said He will never leave me or forsake me.” He was employed at Decker Manufacturing in Albion from 1964-1990 when he retired. Uncle Bill was well known for his generosity and willingness to lend a hand or an ear. He touched many lives in his 92 years and his love of the Lord was plain to see. I worked with Bill at Decker Manufacturing and he was always a ray of sunshine. He treated people very well and was always ready to spend a few minutes talking. He was a very kind and considerate man. His religion was very important to him. He will be missed by many and was truly a man of God.

Bill was one of the pillars of Cookes Prairie Baptist Church now Anchor Baptist Church, he was a man of faith and a very loving, caring, honorable man. ALWAYS thinking of others, and only had thoughts of those he was serving, and the 1 he was serving.
Thankyou brother Bill for the example of christian faith and love that exuded from you with every step and word that we all saw in you. May you now be doing what you wanted, to be in the presence of the one who saved you, and all who have sought and received also.
May you now rest in his peace.
