Anna Vreeburg passed away on April 9, 2016 in Bradenton, FL. She was born on January 21, 1923 to Nicolaas and Elisabeth (nee Langeveld) VanHage in Lisse, the Netherlands. Beloved mother of Quirina/NYC, Elisabeth/Bayside, NY, Jacobus Vreeburg/Bradenton, FL, Margo (Tom) Vreeburg Izzo/Columbus, OH, Richard (Patrice)/Medford, NY, Joseph (Eileen)/Maple Valley, WA, John (Gina) Vreeburg/Encinitas, CA; beloved grandmother of ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Anna and her husband immigrated from the Netherlands in 1950 with two toddlers and $200. After her husband’s death (1960) she devoted her life to bringing up her seven children. Her focus on education and hard work, “doing it together gets things done much quicker,” contributed to successful lives and careers for all of them.
Having grown up on a bulbs farm and being Dutch, she always created beauty around her with a clean house, happy children (most of the time), and flowers. If you drove by 3850 South Main in the spring, you would always see rows of tulips in the flower bed along the road. During summer months, you would see red geraniums and white petunias around the house. All her children at one point or another spent time with their mom planting, weeding flower beds and mowing two acres of grass. As her children left the nest she became more active in community work, Bridge, cross country skiing, biking, travel to her children across the country and to the Netherlands and hosting her grandchildren. Eventually she relocated to Bradenton FL where the weather permitted her to continue her active lifestyle.
