Anthony David Byrd

Born on October 16, 1976, in Kingsport, Tennessee, Anthony was the beloved son of David and Carol Byrd and the devoted older brother of Kari Byrd, who preceded him in death.

Anthony graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1995, where he developed a lifelong love of music as a member of the school’s show choir. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications from the University of Tennessee. He built a successful career of more than 20 years in the lighting industry and was employed by ESA (Electrical Sales Associates). He leaves a lasting impact on the lighting industry through this commitment to excellence, innovation, and service.

Anthony, Uncle Bubba, was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Above all else, he loved his son, Jackson, who was the greatest joy of his life. His lab Avery, was his best friend. She is a reminder of his warmth, comfort, and strength.

Anthony would have celebrated six years of sobriety this year. Through his faith in Christ, he found purpose in serving others and volunteering with A Place at the Table Homeless Shelter and Recovery Revolution. He was a proud member of Revolution Church in Maryville. Anthony got his son and sister baptized. He was a guiding light to God in our family.

He loved the UT Vols, the Great Smoky Mountains, collecting unique vintage antiques, caring for plants, listening to music, and taking long drives. Anthony had a gift for making people feel loved and supported. His family remembers him as their rock—a man whose faith, kindness, and unwavering love left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Anthony is survived by his beloved son, Jackson David Byrd; his parents, David and Carol Byrd; his niece, Alli Potter; his great-nieces, Rylan and Renlee Peters; and many cherished relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Kari Byrd; his uncle, Randy Shelby; and his grandparents, Captola and David T. Byrd Sr., and Billy and Sonny Shelby.

Anthony once wrote:

“God is and has always been with me. I have had a life worth celebrating and am full of gratitude. He continues to save me from myself.

A celebration of Anthony’s life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 1 pm, at Sherwood Chapel, 3176 Airport Highway, Alcoa, Tennessee 37701.
