Charles Richard Lewis

Charles Richard Lewis, born March 9, 1935, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025 in the comfort of this home. He was a dedicated, hard-working man who had a passion for gambling, poker, fishing, golf, and gardening. Additional interests were watching NASCAR, birds, horse races, and especially D.D. on the football field. He also loved bragging, mostly when it came to his family; The amount of joy that would wash over him would melt anyone's heart.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bessie Lewis and his beloved wife of 55 years, Louise V. Lewis. Charles and Louise collectively were the parents of 8 children. Four of those children precede him- Charles Lewis Jr. (Ricky), Carmen (Mike) Coram, Tommy Flynn, and Cathy (Willard) Gass and 12 of his siblings.

Charles is survived by 4 of his children- Yvonne (Fred) Helton, Steve (Georgina) Lewis, Amy Baxter, and James (Antoinette) Lewis. He is also survived by his youngest brother, D.D. Lewis.

He also leaves behind his 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. All survive him except his beloved grandson, James Edward Lewis II.

A visitation for Charles will be held Friday, June 27, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Garden's Mausoleum, 3176 Airport Highway, Alcoa, TN 37701, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 PM with an entombment after.
