Charlotte Ann (Killian) England took the hand of Jesus early Wednesday morning, May 20, 2026, to enter life eternal in both duration and fullness following a long period of declining health. The younger of two daughters, Charlotte was born to Ernest and Elizabeth Killian in Blount County, Tennessee on the first day of Spring, March 21, 1938, a coincidence that was most appropriate, for she loved the beauty and promise of renewal that accompanied Spring’s arrival each year.
Charlotte grew up in a loving home with nurturing parents and spent many happy days working alongside her parents and sister Doris in the family’s grocery store. She was a 1956 graduate of Everett High School and afterwards attended Knoxville Business College. Shortly thereafter, Charlotte began a grand adventure, seeing large parts of the United States and Europe through her multi-decade marriage to a career Air Force serviceman. It was this union that resulted in her happiest, and most cherished role: that of a devoted wife and mother to five children- three sons and two daughters, through whom she would later have eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three more on the way at the time of her passing – all of whom brought a smile to her face and joy to her heart!
Once her children had grown and moved out to begin families of their own, Charlotte worked outside the home, first at American Fidelity Bank, and later at Proffitt’s and Dillard’s, and ended her working years at Friendsville Elementary School cafeteria, once again cheerfully serving children. But Charlotte also had another love: she was an author and spent much of her spare time in her retirement years writing poetry, songs, and books. She was especially proud of a self-published book she wrote in honor of her maternal grandmother (after whom she was named) entitled “Not for you, Lottie”. From this book, she composed a poem entitled “Yesteryear” which was made into a song and recorded. Over the years, several of her poems were published by the annual Shriner’s newspaper and The National Library of Poetry.
In addition, Charlotte founded “Solo Flight”, a support group for divorced women, and spent several happy years singing with a local women’s choral choir “Rejoice”. Charlotte was a member of Peck’s Memorial United Methodist Church and later attended East Maryville Baptist Church with her sister. Over the years, she served as Sunday School teacher, newspaper writer, and choir member.
She is survived by her five children: Beth (Kevin) England; Denny (Janet) England; Allison (Bob) Edwards; Greg (Amy) England; Patrick (Jen) England; grandchildren Christopher Bengston; Ryan (Molly) England; Caroline (Whitt) Thompson; Morgan (Mariah) Edwards; Erika Seaver; Jarrod (Azlinn) Edwards; Braeden (Jack) Gumbert; Micah (Vincent) Spetrini; Elijah (Kendra) England; Aiden England; Linsey England; Emily England; Kayla England; Kaylee (Park) Heinz; Jake England; special nephew and niece Jeff (Julie) Murr and Jan Murr Bell; and multiple great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens, with burial immediately to follow.
