Earl Dennis McClain

May 4, 1952May 17, 2019

Earl Dennis McClain, 67, of Maryville, Tennessee, succumbed to cancer on May 17th, 2019.

Earl is survived by his wife Diane McClain of 44 years, daughter Denise McClain, and son Brad McClain, brothers Greg McClain and Jeff McClain and granddaughter Merida McClain and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Earl was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.

Earl was always very dedicated to his family and proud of his children. One of his favorite memories was being able to bring a bottle of champagne to his son’s college graduation. This was a momentous occasion for two reasons: his son being the first child of his to receive a degree, but also because he could now pursue a better job. Earl had stayed at a job for years, turning down better jobs, because if he had accepted, the new jobs would have put him into a higher tax bracket and his son would not have received as much financial aid as he had been receiving. He never mentioned this before and never complained despite the job being physically demanding and not allowing him a day off for over eight months. Earl was a father who put himself second and his family first.

A special thank you to the people at Blount Memorial Hospital for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Berry Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.

Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM on Sat, May 25th. Funeral services for Earl will be from 12:30 to 1:00 PM and burial at 1:00 PM at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society PO Box 555, 2321 West 20th Street, Washington, DC 55555.
