For years, we would bring young people from the Runaway Shelter to volunteer at the Love Kitchen. The profound experience of volunteering showed them that there was always someone in more need than they were. Ms. Ellen shared hugs, smiles and laughter while making sure that each young person did his or her best to help others. For many of them, this was their first look at unconditional love and positive regard. She and Helen feed hearts and souls and her faith is being rewarded now. Heaven's kitchen is all smiles.

My prayers are with the family I'm so sorry for your loss and for your sister. You 2 meant so much to everyone you touch or just a talk with you showed what love and belief can do I'm so glad I got to meet the both of you. God be with you at this time

I never met Ellen or Helen. Am so sorry for your loss, Helen. I've always heard of The Love Kitchen & how these ladies put their hearts and souls into feeding the hungry. Knoxville was blessed to have these ladies. Rest in Peace, Ellen. She's in Heavens Kitchen now.

I had the honor and privledge of meeting both Ellen and Helen. I remember asking for a photo op because to me you are both such godly women with great wisdom; and compassion for all of God's children. What remarkable ladies!!! Your Christ like lives are a true testimony to what God's angels will be like. Praise for Ellen's new heavenly body and prayers for Helen as you grieve the loss of your sister.

I am so sorry to learn of Ellen's passing. I was one of those that she and Helen served. I grew to love them as I sat there quietly waiting. She is now an Angel in heaven. I can almost certainly having a great reunion with family and friends. May God send comfort and peace in the days and weeks ahead.

To Helen,Sean,Stanley and all the rest, May God truly comfort you all in this time of sorrow. Know she was loved so much ,left big footprints to be filled ,loved by so many.Love Kitchen known around the world.Such christian sacrifice and love for  the hungry.Both retired nurses ,still servants as we all should be,she will live on in all our memories.I really loved the 3 things she and Helen said their Daddy taught them,..The three truths that daddy taught us, number one, he taught us there is but one father and that's our heavenly Father. Number two, he taught us there is but one race, that's the human race. Number three, he taught us not to take the last piece of bread from the table because somebody may come by that's hungry.
