

Fred dedicated 40 years of service as a packing specialist for the government, a career marked by diligence, reliability, and quiet pride in his work. During his working years, he resided in Richmond, Virginia, before eventually returning to his beloved hometown of Maryville, Tennessee.
Fred had a deep love for University of Tennessee basketball and football, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his teams. He also held a special place in his heart for animals, especially cats, and found great joy in their companionship.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred F. Boyd Sr. and Betty Boyd.
Fred is survived by his devoted wife, Tammy M. Boyd; his brother, Jeffrey Lynn Boyd; his sister-in-law, Deborah (Raymond) Dotson; brothers-in-law Randall (Crystal) Mercks and Thomas (Mardi) Mercks, as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind three beloved cats who were a constant source of comfort and happiness in his life.
Fred will be remembered for his steady presence, his loyalty to those he loved, and the simple joys that meant so much to him.
Family welcomes friends to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 2pm, at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens.
