Gary attended the University of Tennessee and received a B.S. in Animal Husbandry in 1972 and a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture in 1983. His career path reflected his love of animals and plants beginning with his job as Zookeeper at the Knoxville Zoo and later as Landscape Foreman at the 1982 World's Fair. He was the Branch Manager of SiteOne Landscape Supply in Maryville, TN, when he retired. Gary found joy in simple things, a walk in the park, a scenic drive on a sunny day, time spent working in his garden, a good book to read. He had a kind heart, a quick wit, and a wondrous smile. He was a loving husband, father, and friend, and he will be immensely missed. He was preceded in death by his parents Brooks and Barbara Stockton; brother, James Ben Stockton. He is survived by his wife Marty; son, Sam; step-daughter, Sarah Grace Bishop; sister-in-law, Susie (Darrell) Traughber. The family will honor Gary in a private service that will be held at a later date at Stockton Cemetery in Jamestown, TN.
