Glenda was one of my dearest friends. We met while getting our hair done at our favorite salon, and we stayed in touch via email sometimes several times a week. My last two emails did not reach her in time because she was in Heaven, and there was no reason for Glenda to worry. She was with her Heavenly Father and celebrating with her loved ones who went before her. May God surround her family members with His love!

Dear David, Brian, and family,
My heartfelt sympathy to you in the passing of one of the most precious friends I have ever known. Glenda and I met during our Carson-Newman days and then continued our friendship when we both moved to Knoxville and attended the same church these many years. She was an especially wonderful member of our JOY Sunday School class and even after it became difficult for her to attend, we all felt her love, kindness, and support through her encouraging cards, emails, texts, and calls. She was the most positive person and always left me feeling upbeat after any visit or conversation; she always signed her cards with the word "joy" and through the years that word became synonymous with Glenda. (Even now, I have a box of notes and stickers with the joy theme that I used especially in my correspondences with her.) We also shared a love of children and teaching! Although we taught at different schools, we often shared notes, materials, tips, and warm stories. My husband Jim and I have chosen to send a memorial for her to Bearden Elementary School Library, knowing how much she loved her school, books, and education. I shall really miss her, but I know Heaven is rejoicing with the arrival of this precious new angel. Glenda will forever be remembered as a truly inspirational, kind, and treasured friend. Jim and I are praying for God's comfort and blessings to each of you.

My Cousin, Glenda was one of the kindest, dearest people I've ever known. She always took time to care about others, especially my mother, Lola Bridges Blacky. Though Glenda and I lived many miles apart, we shared a kindred spirit. Our faith kept us together and hopeful during the tough times, and happy and at peace during the wonderful times. We enjoyed the same kind of humor and often giggled about silly things in life. I will miss talking with her in the pineapple themed kitchen, but I will hold dear in my heart her love for me and mine for her. God Bless you Glenda. The world is a better place because of you.
