Howard C. Polley, age 81, of Murphy, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Howard was born on August 2, 1941, in Pontiac, MI, where he resided until 1969 when he moved his family to Florida and resided in Cape Coral until 2014 when he retired to Murphy, NC.
Howard was an active member of First Assembly of God in Ft. Myers, FL for 45 years where he served as a children's pastor in a lay position 20 years, served on the mission board, and was an ordained elder. He was always actively involved in a project because he could fix or jimmy-rig anything...such as putting a pool in his own backyard and several of his friend's, renovating and remodeling his homes, or building the kids choir annual parade float. He always had a servant's heart and was willing to step in and help where needed. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Hayesville, NC.
He worked as an accountant with a focus in materials management and a business owner of the Snoop Shop where he created interior design decor. His grandchildren could always rely on him as a taxi driver, practical joker, and teacher. He was very understanding, and you could always rely on him to get the job done. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Manley Rolland Polley and Alice Hayward Polley; siblings, Rolland Polley, Leon Polley and Geraldine Kalso.
Howard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Shaw Polley; children, Heather Creamer, Annette Shaver (David), Nathan Polley (Kathryn), and Timothy Polley (Darlene); grandchildren, Jordan Shaver, Allison Edwards (Caleb), Courtney Odom (Josh), Stefanie Creamer, Justin Polley, Kyle Polley, and Katarina Polley; great grandchildren, Kaydin, Lillyana, Wayah, Azalea, Dwayne, Aleckzander, Andrew, Lukas, Kimberly, and Makinley; siblings, Gary Polley and Evelyn Gregory.
Howard's family will receive friends on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm at First Free Will Baptist Church of Hayesville, 259 Tusquittee St., Hayesville, NC 28904, with his memorial service immediately following at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to FFWBC Uganda Children's Orphanage in Howard's Memory. If you prefer to send flowers please send those to First Free Will Baptist Church of Hayesville.
