Tucker, Josephine - age 95, of Knoxville/Farragut, Tennessee went to be with the Lord her Savior on February 22, 2015. Born March 29, 1919 in Knoxville, Tennessee, she grew up in the Knoxville, TN and Mansfield, Ohio communities. After graduating from Austin High School, she later retired after employment at Union Carbide, Y-12 Plant, in Oak Ridge Tennessee, and later several years as a gourmet cook, caterer, and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, growing roses, being a mother and wife, and service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a member of Mt. Mariah (Fire Baptized) Holiness Church where she was a member of the Lively Hope Choir, nursing home ministries, and other church related positions/functions. She later was a faithful member of Trinity Chapel and enjoyed many close friends at both churches and communities. We never heard a negative word spoken by her or about her and she always had a smile for all to enjoy. For the last 10 years she greatly enjoyed her weekly day-long experiences as a member of the awesome CADES family at Concord United Methodist Church. All of our hearts are saddened by "Granny's" passing but we rejoice that she is reunited with her husband of over 50 years, Edward Tucker Sr., her son Edward Tucker Jr., her "special son" James Edward Truman, her sister Lucille Wade, her mother Elizabeth Turley, her "special nephew" Charles Wade, and several very close friends and relatives. She greatly valued family and though she has gone Home, she will never be gone from our hearts and memories. She is survived by her son Homer L. Tucker Sr., grand children: H. Lee Tucker Jr. (Dawn), Lana D. (Tucker) Bean (Tyrone), Edward (Eddie) Tucker III (Sandy), and Heather (Tucker) Turner (Quincy)(Louisiana), Jumaane and Jamil Marable (Buffalo, NY); Step-daughter Elizabeth Nichols (San Diego, CA); Daughter-In-Laws Gloria Tucker, Jackie Tucker (Buffalo, NY), and Janice Tucker (Buffalo, NY),; Twelve great-grand children: DeMare', Tylan, Hayli, Hannah, Chris, Elijah, Damien, and Shaun, Jamie Jr., Javan, Micah, Amanie; life-long dear friend Cora Houston, close friend and devoted care-giver Virginia (Sissy) Dillow and a host of extended family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Sherwood Chapel & Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm, with services and interment led by Rev. Daryl Clemes to followat 2:00. If you desire, donations should be made to the CADES Program at Concord United Methodist Church, Farragut, TN, 37934.
