Born on August 8, 1947, in Miami, Florida, Linda was the beloved daughter of William Rambo and Artara Stallings. She graduated from Coral Gables High School and went on to earn degrees from both the University of Georgia and the University of Miami. While at the University of Georgia, she was a proud member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Linda dedicated her professional life to education, serving as a teacher and guidance counselor at Arvida Junior High School in Miami. Even after retirement, she continued to volunteer at Arvida, contributing her talents to the school’s website and mentoring students and staff. Her passion for helping others left a lasting impact on many lives.
Linda was married to the love of her life, Don Manning, for 40 wonderful years. Together, they shared a deep love of travel, photography, and history. Their adventures took them all over the world, capturing breathtaking landscapes and historic sites through their lenses.
A devoted Georgia Bulldogs and Miami Dolphins fan, Linda also gave back to her community as an active volunteer with The Miami Villagers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Miami.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Manning; her father, William Rambo; and her mother, Artara Rambo.
Linda is survived by her sister, Virginia Rambo Kerwin of Knoxville, TN; niece, Tara Kerwin Halstead and her husband Scott Halstead of Knoxville, TN; nephew, Peter Francis Kerwin and his wife JoAnn Kerwin of Knoxville, TN; grand-nephew Kyle Halstead of Mobile, AL; grand-niece Kristen Halstead O’Brien and her husband Tyler O’Brien of Harriman, TN; grand-nephews Connor Kerwin and Ethan Kerwin of Knoxville, TN; and great-grand-nephew Wyatt O’Brien of Harriman, TN.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Linda’s memory at two locations. In Alcoa, TN, May 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens in Alcoa. In addition, another service will occur on June 14, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Cabarello Rivero Woodlawn South, followed by a reception and burial at 2:00 p.m.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and staff at Concord Place Memory Care Center in Knoxville, and to Smokey Mountain Hospice, for the compassionate care provided to Linda.
