Louis Dean Dempsay Born November 21, 1930 – Entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 17, 2025. Louis Dean Dempsay was born at home in Rice, Illinois, to Ruth Opal and G.E. “Bud” Dempsay. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia, and his brother, Bill. He is survived by his siblings Goldie Rizzo, Jack Dempsay, and Judy Bigham. Lou spent his early years working on the family farm. He went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge. After his military service, he worked for many years at Potomac Electric Power Company, from which he eventually retired and as a realtor in MD and FL. While stationed in the Navy, Lou was set up on a blind date with the love of his life, Joan Barker. That fateful meeting led to their marriage on October 23, 1954—a union that lasted a lifetime. Together, Lou and Joan raised three daughters: Pam Hauff, Debbie Collins, and Laura Raigoza. Lou was a devoted family man, deeply proud of his 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, whom he cherished dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Lou’s memory, to support research and care for those affected by the disease.
