
Mary Ellen “Granny” Clark Gregory, 97, passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s on Jan. 7, 2015, at home in West Palm Beach, Fla. Mary Ellen was born March 11, 1917, to Benjamin and Cordia Clark in Maryville. She grew up and lived in Maryville until she moved to Lake Worth, Fla., in 1964. She retired from Good Samaritan Hospital in 1979. She is survived by daughter, Virginia Whetsell of Lake Worth, Fla.; grandson, Greg Whetsell (Karen) of Boynton Beach, Fla.; granddaughter, Lisa Whetsell Brackett of Vero Beach, Fla.; son, Leroy Gregory (Judy), granddaughters, Jeanette Gregory Dean (Andy) and Lanabeth Gregory Belli (Mike), all of Elberton, Ga.; son, Sherrill Gregory; grandsons, Brad Gregory (Michelle) and Travis Gregory (Shyia) of Woodville, Fla.; daughter, Wynona Gregory Bowman (Jim) of West Palm Beach, Fla., grandsons, David Bowman (Lynda) of Springboro, Ohio, Mike Bowman (LaNita) of Murfreesboro, and Steve Bowman (Missy) of Hayfield, Minn.; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson; as well as many dear extended family members and friends. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by both parents and eight brothers and sisters (Ethel Starrett, Pearl Huffstetler, Violet Hall, Floyd Clark, Jessie Heaton, Earl Clark, Edna Caylor and Reece Clark. Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at Kagley’s Chapel Baptist Church, 4301 Six Mile Road, Maryville. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Graveside service to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association
