Patton, Mary Virginia- age 94 of Rockford went to be with her Lord Friday, January 28, 2011. She was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church. She was a first grade teacher for 36 years at Rockford Elementary School, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, where she served as President and was voted Teacher of the Year. Preceded in death by husband Robert William Patton; 1 brother and 1 sister. Survived by daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Charlie Smart; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Mary Ann Patton. Also survived by grandson Scott Hanley; step granddaughter, Tracy Smart. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 from 12:30-1:00 pm at Sherwood Chapel with the service to follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Keith Haverkamp officiating. Entombment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mary’s name to the American Heart Association or the Cancer Society.
