Born and raised in Carthage, Mississippi, Paul learned the value of perseverance at an early age, where he developed a strong work ethic. He pursued higher education, earning a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of California. Throughout his distinguished career, he served as a histotechnologist, pathologist assistant, and ultimately the CEO of a pathology group.
While his professional accomplishments were many, his greatest joys were found outside of work. He deeply loved his farm in Sweetwater; yet, what made the farm truly special to him was the laughter and fellowship that filled it whenever his family gathered there.
Paul is survived by his sons, Paul (Tracy) Johnson Jr. and Samuel (Ginger) Johnson; daughters, Melinda (Jared) Barksdale and Misty (Marc) Meury; fiancée, Mandy Smith; 18 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kay Johnson.
Visitation will be held at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Highway, Alcoa, TN 37701, on June 23, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm, with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:30 pm at the same location.
The pallbearers will be Arnie Johnson, Sammy Johnson, Tyler Crampton, Jared Barksdale, Scott Johnson, and Samantha McCormick.
