
Robert Ansel Epperson, 86, of Knoxville passed away Nov. 8, 2011. Born in Greenville, Miss in 1925. Raised in New Orleans La. Preceded in death by his father, Ansel I Epperson; Mother, Leona DeWolfe; Daughter, Cynthia Elaine Epperson; sister, Eva Macintosh; sister in law Helen Moore. Survied by wife, Gloria Barber Moore Epperson for 56 years; son, Steven Robert Epperson; daughter in law, Susan Weathers Epperson; grandchildren, Miranda, Michelle and husband David Grorud, Stacey, Robert, Gracie, Daniel, Joseph and Esther. Sister, Jeanette Buck, Kalamazoo Mi; brother, Wilson Epperson, Knoxville; John Norris Epperson, Nashville, Tn. Many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Brother in law, Hadley Moore, DeKalb, Ill. Bob was an elder at 1st Cumberland Pres. Church and currently an elder at Lake Hills Pres. Church.
At 17, he joined the Navy and served in the SeaBees 107th Navel Construction Batt. Veteran of WW2 in the Pacific. After the war, moved to Knoxville. Started Epperson Electric Co. operated for 26 years. In 1955, married Gloria. He loved big game hunting, boating and helped start Fort Loudon Yacht Club in 1960. Was a member of the Sertoma Club, Honorary deputy sheriff. Learned to fly in 1960. Life member of Charles McKinsey Lodge. Started land development in several states building travel trailer resorts and condos. In the 1970s , started TVM Morgan Horse Farm. Morgan Horse Assoc. Director for 11 yrs. Started the Morgan Horse Youth of the Year Program that still operates today. After retirement, he and Gloria took up outdoor photography, traveling extensively all over North America. He presented many workshops and slideshows in the area.
He is dearly loved by his family and grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 5 pm and visitation from 6 to 8 pm Friday, Nov 11, 2011 at Lake Hills Pres. Church. Burial will be at 10:30 am, Sat. Nov. 12 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.sherwoodchapel.net.
