Ruth Lawson, 86, of Knoxville, TN died peacefully on October 7, 2016. The oldest child of Hansford and Anna Ruth Defoe, Ruth was born in Andersonville, TN. Ruth was of the Christian faith, attended Carson-Newman College, and work for many years at Kern's Bakery. Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Alan Lawson, twin grandsons David Lee and Michael Lynn Lawson, both of her parents, her two sisters, Jane Bennett and Rose Ann Defoe, and the father of her children, Jack Lawson. Ruth leaves behind her son, David Michael (Mike) Lawson, daughters, Carol Doyle, Susan Lawson, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday evening, October 11 at 7 PM at Colonial Heights Methodist Church in Knoxville, officiated by Pastor Daniel Ogle. Family will receive friends from 6-7 prior to the service. Donations can be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee,136 Harvest Ln, Maryville, TN 37801, to which Ruth donated for years.
