Verna Rosteen Price, age 103, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, strength, independence, and love that will live on through generations of family.
Born on September 29, 1923, Verna was blessed with 103 remarkable years. She witnessed a world of extraordinary change, yet remained true to herself and the values she held dear. Fiercely independent and determined, she approached life with confidence, courage, and a “watch me do it” attitude. She never shied away from a challenge or allowed circumstances to define what she could accomplish.
Her incredible work ethic and love for staying active continued well into her later years. Verna worked at McDonald’s until the age of 93, a job she genuinely loved and took great pride in. Her dedication, enthusiasm, and joy in her work reflected the remarkable spirit she carried throughout her life.
Above all, Verna was a woman of deep Christian faith. Her Southern Baptist beliefs were the foundation of her life, guiding her through both blessings and hardships. She found strength in God’s promises and joy in the love of her family.
Those who knew Verna will remember a woman who was as strong-willed as she was sweet. Wonderfully stubborn, loving, outspoken, and full of humor, she spoke her mind, stood her ground, and loved with her whole heart. Beneath her fierce independence was one of the kindest and most caring souls anyone could hope to know.
One of her family’s fondest memories was her playful reminder, “Wait till you’re 100 years old!” She would laugh as her family jokingly replied that they had no desire to reach such an age themselves. It was a simple exchange that perfectly captured her humor and the special bond she shared with those she loved.
Verna found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, especially cooking, gardening, working on puzzle books, and spending time with family. Having witnessed her family grow across multiple generations, she treasured the memories made and the love they shared.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd W. Price; her son, David Earl Price; and all of her brothers and sisters, having been the last surviving sibling in her family.
She is survived by her loving daughter-in-law, Betty Price; granddaughter, Susan Teffeteller, and grandson-in-law, Randall Teffeteller; three great-grandchildren, Shane Fredenberg and his wife, Maureen Criswell; Patrick Cross; and Meagan Fredenberg and her wife, Natalie Fredenberg; and three great-great-grandchildren, Noah, Jacob, and Luke Fredenberg, the children of Meagan and Natalie.
She is also survived by her beloved niece, Delitha LeQuire, and her husband, Charlie LeQuire, along with numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.
Verna’s 103 years were more than a century of memories; they were a testament to a life lived with purpose, faith, and love. She showed those around her that strength and kindness could go hand in hand, that age was never a limit, and that the greatest legacy one can leave is the love shared with others.
While her family mourns her passing, they celebrate the extraordinary blessing of having loved and been loved by such an incredible woman. They find comfort in knowing that her earthly journey has ended and she has been called home to rest in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
One hundred and three years. A century of memories. A lifetime of faith, strength, laughter, and love.
Her remarkable spirit and beautiful heart will never be forgotten.
Until we meet again.
A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 pm on October 26, 2026, at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
