

Dr. Warren Edward Gaston Sr., age 94, of Maryville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2025. A faithful servant, dedicated educator, and loving family man, Dr. Gaston lived a life marked by purpose, humility, and unwavering commitment to Christ.
Born with a heart for ministry and education, Dr. Gaston devoted his life to Christian service around the world and in his local community. He was a longtime member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Alcoa, Tennessee, where he worshipped and served faithfully. His passion for missions led him to found Arab World Media, a ministry focused on reaching Arabic-speaking communities with the message of Christ.
Dr. Gaston’s distinguished career in academia included serving as Dean at the University of Illinois, where he was admired for his intellect, leadership, and deep care for students. In addition to his work in higher education, he served as Associate Pastor at Berean Bible Church and as Headmaster of BBC Christian School, pouring into the next generation both spiritually and academically. He also served on the Board of Directors at The King’s Academy, where his wisdom and guidance helped shape the school’s mission and future.
Above all, Dr. Gaston will be remembered as a Christian missionary, an educator, and a humble man of God who gave his life in service to others. His legacy of faith, scholarship, and compassion will live on in the countless lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Mildred Stout Gaston; son Warren Edward Gaston Jr. and great-grandson Isaiah Warren Gaston.
Dr. Gaston is survived by his wife Grace Campbell Gaston; children John (Sara) Gaston and Charles (Karla) Gaston; stepchildren Grace (Ken) Linderman, Charles (Kimberly) Lang, and Gary (Cindy) Lang. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family welcomes friends for a Visitation at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 12pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 1pm.
