William Edward Sentell, age 86, of Rockford, TN, went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2024. Bill’s family was in Christian ministry, and he grew up in the church. His father was a pastor who taught him the fundamental truths of God’s word from an early age. From childhood, Bill would develop a love of singing and sang with many choirs and gospel groups throughout his life. He loved Southern Gospel and Quartet style singing. Bill grew up in South Knoxville, was the third of four children, and graduated from South High School. He was a lifelong fan of many types of sports. After courting and eventually marrying the love of his life, Louise, he would take his new bride on a dream honeymoon to the Atlanta Motor Speedway where they attended the Dixie 400 Nascar Race. Bill worked for White Stores for several years before changing fields to pursue a career at Alcoa. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company after many years of service. Together, Bill and Louise, who were married for almost 63 years until Louise passed on to Heaven just fifteen days before Bill, raised three daughters, while staying faithful members of several local Baptist church congregations. Over the last 34 years, they loyally served at Rockford Baptist Church where Bill was a trustee. Throughout the years, Bill and Louise most enjoyed vacationing with their children and other family members as well as spending time on the lake and in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Rev A.L. Sentell, mother, Sarah Sentell, wife, Louise Sentell, and brothers, Bob and Jay Sentell. He was survived by his children, Kathy (JB) Sentell Bach, Diana Sentell, Patricia (William) Sentell Cheek; his grandchildren, Ashley (Nate) Pratt, Korey (Shelby) Bach, Caroline (Ben) Bach Coulter, and Jessica Cheek; great-grandson Beckham Bach and sister Evelyn Aiken, and several nieces and nephews.
On Monday, September 23, 2024, Bill’s family will receive friends at 10:15am at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens located at 3176 Airport Hwy, Alcoa, TN 37701. A Graveside Service will follow at 11:00am.
