It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved Albert Victor Melhus, 83, passed away on May 3rd, 2024. Albert was born in Port Alberni, BC on July 26th, 1940, and grew up in Victoria, BC. Albert lived most of his life in Langley, BC where he raised his family on a small hobby farm, coached his kids in baseball, and in his free time camped, fished and traveled.
He is survived by his beautiful and caring soulmate, Anne Marie Melhus, and his three children, Ken Melhus (Rhonda Melhus), Stacey Lanthier (Craig Lanthier) and Darren Melhus (Louise Melhus), as well as his seven grandchildren Zachary, Branden, Taylor, Ryley, Chelsea, Amy and Emma.
Albert supported the whole family with his loving and infectious energy. He was also the life of many parties with his great stories and antics. His friendly and fun nature, skillful and strong work ethic and constant willingness to help others was loved by everyone who knew him. He worked hard his whole life from paper routes as a kid, to a skilled machinist in manufacturing, to his final role as a maintenance coordinator at the Maple Ridge School Board. In retirement he tackled many projects, including renovating a house for each of his children, helping his children all get established in their first homes and many other projects along the way. His favourite things were attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and all the family social gatherings. His departure leaves a big void for all who knew him.
Please join us to celebrate his life at Newlands Golf Course (21025 48 Ave, Langley, BC) on his birthday, July 26th, 2024, starting at 1pm.
