Dave was a private person who enjoyed the simple things in life: his family, his trade as a phenomenal electrician, his pleasure in watching baseball and hockey games. (Blue Jays and Boston Bruins his favorite) lake and river visits, the cabin, boating, fishing and hunting (although he never killed anything!!). He was very intelligent and could take apart and reassemble nearly any item. Repairmen were superfluous!
There was no doppelganger. His wry wit and sense of humour were incomparable and his laugh was contagious. He could turn a disheartening situation into a laughing matter very quickly. It was just his way. He was always very generous to friends and family.
His humor kept the laughter alive in his 46year marriage to his ‘buttercup’ Lorelyn (Lori) who loved him, unconditionally. He adored his three children: Krista (Jason), Erik (Jackie), and Kraig ,3 grandchildren, Ethan, Jonah and Simone, and special granddaughters, Samantha and Cassandra. Their love and devotion kept his spirit fighting to survive and enjoying life, no matter how difficult the disease made his daily life. He was predeceased by his parents, Marguerite and Gordon and his brother John. He will also be sadly missed by his devoted sister, Lael, loving sisters-in-law Diane and Jo, nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Sianelle, Gordon, Stuart and Mathew. Also, brother Jim (Jan).
His wit and demeanor will be greatly missed by his many co-workers and friends, several unaware of how painful his battle had become. He wanted to maintain normalcy and did not like to show any weaknesses, even to his family. He was still working a week prior to his death as he enjoyed their companionship and familiarity. So many thanks to the Clearview Demolition family for their support over the last two years. It kept his spirit determined!
We will all miss him very much and his family’s enduring love will keep the many, many memories alive.
Forever Dave, Dad, Fath, Papa!
CoVid persists so a memorial for Dave will take place at a later date. If you wish, Donations to his favorite charity, B.C. Children’s hospital, would be appreciated.
