She is survived by her loving daughters Pat (Terry), Judy (Brian), and sons John (Cindy), Mel (Maureen), Mike (Debbie), Joe (Chris) as well as 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Dorothy was independent and had amazing strength. She was extremely proud of her whole family and had a loving, unique and special relationship with each one.
Dorothy was born at home in Brooklands, Manitoba on December 29, 1926, first of a family of five children. Mom’s memories of her younger years were family gatherings and camping trips to Winnipeg Beach. Christmas was at her grandparents home for dinner, presents, and singing Jingle Bells to welcome their visit from Santa. Dorothy’s family moved to Melville Saskatchewan in December of 1940. She was taught to knit by her grandmother. She knit socks, mitts and scarves for the troops. She continued to knit for all of her family for many many years. Dorothy’s first job was with Swift Canadian Poultry and Creamery in Melville. Then off to Young, Saskatchewan to open an egg candling station for Swifts. This is where she met her husband, John Wilfred Eiswerth. The first years of marriage were at Young, Saskatchewan living on a farm.
In 1954 they moved to Regina, Saskatchewan, and then in 1966 to North Delta, B.C. They did a lot of traveling internationally and locally, and a lot of camping with their children and grandchildren. After Wilfred passed away (November 25, 2010), Dorothy traveled extensively with her family. Dorothy had a passion for travel and a talent with her photography. Always with a camera and laptop close by. She created scrapbooks, family movies, and movies of each of her trips. In her spare time, she researched, documented, and created our treasured Family Tree. Dorothy cherished the connection her ipad provided, with constant contact with each family member through facetime, messenger and email.
Dorothy’s message to her family was thanks to all for a very rich and fulfilling life. We in turn say thanks to you mom, for our rich and fulfilling lives - you have touched so many lives, and we have learned so much from you. We love you and miss you.
Bye for Now!
