Hans Rempel

Hans lived life on his own terms, characterized to the end by his determination, creative problem solving, and unique sense of humour. Born November 21, 1946 in Fernheim Colony, Paraguay, Hans learned the meaning of hard work and family loyalty playing a role in his family’s farming ventures. At 16 he immigrated with his parents and siblings to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and shortly thereafter landed in Vancouver, BC, where he learned the construction trade. After several years working within the family construction business Hans started his own company and his own family.

Following a chance meeting at a local stop sign, Hans married Maria (Mary) - the love of his life - in 1969. In their many years together they built several homes, established a trucking company, and welcomed children Teresa, Juanita, Steven, and Michael. Hans was a proud father who demonstrated the meaning of hard work and stewardship for his children.

In his younger years Hans was an avid fisherman, hunter, and waterskier. Legend has it he often did all three at the same time. He was a trucker at heart, loving life on the road and the connections he made at each stop. In his off time Hans proudly rode his Goldwing and enjoyed trips to Mexico. Later he and Mary began to travel further afield, experiencing trips of a lifetime to South America and Germany to reconnect with family.

Hans was a generous networker and entrepreneur to the end. He loved to help others and met many people through his efforts to connect them to a deal he knew a friend or acquaintance had to offer.

On August 27th, 2021 Hans returned to the arms of his Father and was reunited with Mary, whose death in 2011 had broken his heart.

Hans will be lovingly remembered by his children: Teresa (Dirk), Juanita, Steven (Melissa) and Michael (Raquel); his grandchildren: Alexandria, Danielle, Zaffira, Innocenzo, and Daniel; as well as many friends and extended family members.

A service will be held at South Langley Church, 20098-22nd Ave, Langley on Saturday, September 25th at 2:00pm.
