Survived by his children Rick and Lynnea, grandchildren Kristen and Jesse, great grandchildren Josh, Nick & Abi and sister-in-law Katie Pratt. Pre-deceased (April 28th/2023) by his wife, Gladys of almost 70 yrs!
Ron was a quiet reserved man who never drank, smoked, swore or did drugs, yet had no religion. Ron dedicated his life to working as a Firemen/Captain 1957-1987 (his proudest career accomplishment). All of his spare time since 1963 was spent making Mission Raceway the success it is today. And was very proud of the fact that he defeated the government when rebuilding the drag strip. He loved building and showing cars, Drag Racing, racing Moto-x (including a Gold medal at the police and fire Olympics in his 50's), soccer, baseball, helping to rebuild Action BMX where his grandson & great grandson race, doing his extensive Christmas displays, attending Kruise for Kids, working in his yard & his dogs. One of his proudest achievements was being inducted into the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame & the NHRA Hall of Fame. Ron was admired & respected by many and could not go anywhere without being recognized.
He will be remembered as an essential part of B.C.'s motorsport history. And his Christmas displays will be sadly missed by many.
