She was born on July 2, 1941, to the late Ross and Vera Bell. Ann was the beloved wife of the late Charles Nix and the devoted mother of Shannon Steed and husband Greg, and Bryan Nix. She was the cherished grandmother of Shelby Brogdon and husband Zach, and the proud great-grandmother of Charlie and Bristol Brogdon. She is also survived by three of her siblings, Betty Harrell, Linda Hill (Len) and David Bell (Beth) as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
One of nine children in a very musical family, Ann treasured singing with her sisters at family gatherings and on the Smiling Mack Carger Hayloft Party that aired on KARK-TV as well as a weekly radio show of the same name. A 1959 graduate of Bryant High School, she played basketball along with being on the cheerleading squad.
Ann built a successful career as co-owner of Nix Insurance alongside her husband Charles. She worked with Farmers Insurance Agency and she became the first female insurance agent in Benton, Arkansas.
Ann and Charles were members of First Southern Baptist Church in Bryant. Throughout her life she was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a faithful caretaker for many relatives.
She found joy in singing, cooking, reading, and decorating—especially at Christmas. She also loved to travel with family and friends and always had a great time on cruises. Ann was an enthusiastic fan of Razorback basketball and the Dallas Cowboys.
In recent years, some of her happiest moments were spent cheering on her great-grandson Charlie at his baseball, soccer, and basketball games.
Funeral services will be held at Pinecrest Funeral Home on Saturday , October 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
