

He was born July 12, 1933, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Auriel E. Slack and Willie Una Slack. In addition to his parents, Mastin was preceded in death by his wife, Linda and his sister, Evelyn Gail Slack Watson.
Mastin proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant and Field Radio Operator during the Korean War era, earning multiple commendations for his service. Following his time in the military, he devoted himself to his family, his faith, and the simple joys of life.
A faithful member of Community Park Church in Bryant, Arkansas, Mastin was a master gardener and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and the wisdom he shared with those around him.
He is survived by two daughters, Jo Anne Hill (Steven) of Conway, Arkansas, and Dianne Alexander of Claremore, Oklahoma; one son, Mike Slack of Jefferson, Texas; grandchildren, Blaine Slack (Victoria), Jake Slack, Adam Slack (Ashley), Rachael Lawrence, Sarah Salazar (Fernando), Emily West (Parker), Ryan Alexander (Allison), Katelyn Ramirez (Jesuś), and Grace Hill; 19 great-grandchildren who lovingly called him "Papaw"; as well as many other beloved family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at Community Park Church, 4630 S Shobe Rd, Bryant, AR 72022, on March 28, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm, also at the church.
Mastin will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 HIGHWAY 5 N, ALEXANDER, AR 72002, immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Community Park Church, 4630 S Shobe Rd, Bryant, AR 72022.
