Billy Joe Creasey was born to Sebert Wilson Creasey, Sr. and Almedia Evans Creasey in Pinnacle, Arkansas on April 1, 1942. He graduated from Joe T. Robinson High School and, later in life, earned his associate’s degree from UALR. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years. During the Vietnam war, he was stationed on the airfields of Thailand, serving as a fireman as aircraft often returned in flames and carrying wounded soldiers.
His entire career was dedicated to firefighting. Not long after retiring from the Air Force, he joined the fire department at the North Little Rock VA Hospital. His active firefighting career came to an end after he suffered his first heart attack, followed by bypass surgery, at the age of 43. However, he couldn’t stay away from his passion for long and continued working in fire safety at the Little Rock VA Hospital for another 21 years. After fully retiring, Billy spent many joyful days crappie fishing and playing golf.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers Sebert “Junior” and James “Pokey”, and sisters Patsy and Linda. He is survived by his daughters Michelle Smothers (Mark) and Sandra Swindle (Jay); grandsons Colten Swindle (Nicole) and Lt. Mason Fridge (Julia); granddaughter Jacey Swindle; great-granddaughters Victoria and Violet; and one special friend of 30 years, Sondra Fairchild.
Billy lived nearly as many years after his first heart attack as he had before it—a true testament to his resilience (stubbornness). He was deeply loved through it all.
