Cherry Kaye Callahan

Kaye was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James C. Callahan; her beloved son, Stephen Callahan; her parents, Jesse Lemuel and Vera (Rogers) Burks; and her six sisters, Margie Burks, Bonnie Garner, Joyce Gibson, Eva Cox, Sue Long and Betty Chunn.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Elizabeth Fisher(Mark) of Bauxite and Katherine Knight (Matt) of Benton; her cherished grandchildren, Ally Beaird (Robert) of Malvern, Bren Mitchell of Bauxite, Brooke Shaw (Dillon) of Benton and Matilda Callahan of Benton; her treasured great-grandchildren, Chloe Neal, Kylie Loredo, Deklyn Lyons, Bowen Lyons, Witten Beaird, Aspen Beaird, Kenley Shaw, Rylee Shaw, Alex Gurney and Eli Gurney.

She is also survived by her brothers, George Burks of Benton and Jesse Burks of Bauxite; and her sisters, Martha Hilson of Haskell, Sheila Clark of Houston, TX, and Barbara Johnson of Greenbrier.

Kaye was lovingly known as “Aunt KK” to her many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Over the years, she touched many lives through her work as a local beautician and a former member of Highland Heights Baptist Church. But her greatest pride and joy was her unwavering devotion to helping raise her grandchildren. The love and memories they shared will be treasured forever in their hearts.

She found happiness in the simple things—reading, poetry, and music. She was dearly loved, and her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.

Katherine and Liz would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and deepest appreciation to Saline Memorial, Gentiva, Elite, and Arkansas Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and dignity they showed their mother during her time of need.

They would also like to express their profound love and gratitude to their Aunt Martha Hilson and sister-in-law, Cynthia Knight. The care, support, and countless sacrifices they made for their mother can never truly be repaid. Their devotion, long hours, and unwavering commitment allowed Kaye to receive the love and care she deserved. Words cannot fully express how much their help meant to the family. They will forever be grateful and will never forget the love they showed to their mother.

Visitation will be held at Pinecrest Funeral Home, 7401 HIGHWAY 5 N, ALEXANDER, AR 72002, on May 23, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm.
