Dana Gay Dickerson Stevens, the daughter of Claude “Buck” and Doris “Dot” Dickerson, was born in Hope, Arkansas, on September 18,1947. She lived in Prescott, Arkansas, where she graduated Prescott High School and was a member of the basketball team. Gay graduated Hendrix College with a degree in accounting and was a member of the swim team. After moving to Little Rock, she worked for the Pulaski county Special School district as an accounting/payroll coordinator. Then for Central Arkansas Supply for the next 25 years. As beautiful as she was it was not long before she caught the eye of her loving husband of 43 years, Dennis Stevens. Not only did she gain a husband she also became a mother to 2 children, Yolanda and Bryan. She may not have given birth to them, but she loved them wholehearted. As a Shriner’s wife, she was involved in the square dancers and clownette clubs to help in all efforts to support Shriner’s Hospital for children. Her love did not end there. She was a grandmother to Joshua, Amber, Brooklyn, Jacob, and Jessica and great grandmother to Alexia, Laura, Michael, Ashlyn, Naomi, and George Anna; sister to Jimmy Dickerson; sister-in-law to Sandra and Annette Stevens, aunt to Brian and Matt Dickerson, Jayme and Suzanne Stevens, and Lisa Jenkins and great aunt to many more. To know her was to love her and her friends are endless. She will be missed dearly but never forgotten because of all the family traditions and memories left behind. Gay taught us the true meaning of unconditional love. She was an outstanding example of a true lady. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and funeral service on Thursday, July 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Funeral Home, 7401 Hwy 5 North, Alexander. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 508 North Reynolds Road, Bryant, AR 72022 or Scimitar Shrine Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 255, North Little Rock, AR 72115. When I was at Hendrix College, Gay and I were fellow students. And, growing up in Judsonia, Arkansas, I knew Dennis and his entire family. Gay was so young to leave this earth & I know her family is profoundly sad; however, God's timing is perfect and His plan to take her early will one day be revealed.

These words are taken from a poem written by Henry Van Dyke, an American clergyman: "Death comes in its own time, in its own way. Death is as unique as the individual experiencing it." Considering that our Lord is the true author of our lives, I hope this is comforting.

Remember when Gay went to stay at Gary and Carol's house one time and left the van running all night in the driveway? She was a sweetheart of a lady every time we were around her. To Dennis and all of Gay's family, we are sorry for your loss.
