David was a hardworking and dedicated man, owning and operating Burden Installation for seventeen years. He was known for his strong work ethic, generosity, and the love he shared with his family. To those who knew him best, he will always be remembered as the G.O.A.T.—the greatest of all time.
He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. David enjoyed fishing and looked forward each year to his trip to Dauphin Island. At home, he had a special fondness for his cats—most of all, his beloved Buddy.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Winifred Burden, and his children: Audria Trimble (Sam), Chantal Benson, Doug Porter (Dawn), Becki Goldman (Joseph), Jamey Salazar, and Timmy Conley (Rebecca).
David also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Garrett Salazar, Whitney Dixon, Levi Trimble, Dustin Coffman, Cody Coffman, Blake Coffman, Paige Riley, Reaganne Riley, Heather Dickerson, Stephanie Mattick, Jake Thompson, Faith Conley, Billy Conley, and Reed Conley, along with a whole host of great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David L. Burden, Sr. and Dorsey Burden; his son, James Ricky Thompson; and his grandson, Gabriele Salazar.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Pinecrest Funeral Home on Hwy 5. Burial will follow at the same location.
Pallbearers will be Garrett Salazar, Chris Yarberry, David White, Justin Browning, Jason Browning, and Kevin Dixon. Honorable mention goes to Matthew Riley.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who have offered love and support during this time.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.
