David Harrell peacefully passed away on October 14, 2026 in the sole company of his loving wife of 51 years. He will be remembered most for the family he cherished, the countless stories he told, and his dedicated service as a police officer. His stories, jokes, and pranks were all part of his unmistakable personality that will leave a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. His heart was as big as his grin.
His story began on October 8, 1944 in Gravel Ridge Arkansas as the eleventh of twelve children, born into a family filled with love, happiness, and a lot of mischief. Growing up in a large family, with siblings spanning many years in age, undoubtedly brought its share of adventures and unforgettable moments that molded him into the stern yet loving man he became.
As a police officer, husband, father, brother, and a friend, he had a duty “To Protect and Serve” anyone around him. He carried that spirit with him throughout his life, looking out for others and standing by the people who mattered most. Though his watch has ended, the love he shared, the stories he told, and the memories he created will continue to live on through his family and friends.
His final shift is complete. May he finally rest in peace.
David is survived by his wife Shirley (Andrews); his daughter Kim, husband Dale Barker, and their son Brett; his son Jerry Wade, wife Brooke, and their children Eva Kate and Connor;
his sisters Martha Jane Whiteley and Eva Marie Harrell; his brothers John Leo and Bobby Ray, wife Janet; sister-in-law Christa; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ethel (McPike) and Horace Harrell; his sisters Freeda Mae and husband Henry Simpson, and Katherine and husband Herman Harrison; his brothers Walker and wife Lilian, Austin and wife Wanda, Joe and wife Ruth, Frankie and wife Janice, and Command Sergeant Major Charles Harrell; his brother-in-law David Whiteley; sister-in-law Jamie; nephews Sean, Henry Allen, and Billy Earl; great-niece Melanie Little; and his beloved friends and family by heart, Jerry and Jean Pack and Ellie Cox.
A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Pinecrest Funeral Home.
