It is with great sadness that the family of David Carlin Smith announce his passing at the age of 85. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He died in Little Rock, Arkansas on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 9:21 AM.
David was born in Mabelvale, Arkansas on April 22, 1941 to Carlin E. and Velma G. Smith, a carpenter and a homemaker. He was the fifth of eight brothers and sisters.
He did not retire, but operated his automobile upholstery business to the very end of his life. He was appreciated by his customers for the quality of his work and his reliability. He was talented with the harmonica, and it was so fun to hear him play. He was loved and respected by his family. If anyone needed help, he was always there.
He loved country dancing and was a former competitive country dancer. He was actively involved with the Ballroom, Latin and Swing Social Dance Association and Let's Dance Studio for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his sister Charlene Smith Williams and her husband Robert Williams of Bryant, AR, and his brother Troy Smith and wife Debbie of Salt Lake City, UT, nine nephews, and twelve nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alvin, Elvis, and Orville, and sisters Juanita and Paula.
We take comfort in knowing he lived a good and honorable life, and has gone to be with the Lord and his departed loved ones. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday June 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Pinecrest Funeral Home in Alexander, AR.
