James C. McClure, age 86 of Little Rock passed away peacefully at home on August 17th, 2026. James, or better known as "Jimmy", was born in Newark, AR on August 10th, 1940 - youngest of 3 children - to Elmer and Wilma McClure. Jimmy was raised in Newark with his two older sisters and graduated from Newark High School. Jimmy met the love of his life, Wanda, in 1958 and they married December 24th, 1960. They were together as soul mates until Wanda's passing in 2023.
After marriage James and Wanda moved to Little Rock where they raised two daughters. They were of Church of Christ faith and attended Barrow Road for several years. Jimmy worked as a cable repairman for Southwestern Bell for 42 years before retiring. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, spending quality time with his family, and beating everyone in rousing card games. For the last few years of her life, Wanda's health declined and Jimmy was a devoted husband and cared for her until her passing in 2023. After her passing, Jimmy wanted to continue to help others, as it was in his nature, and began volunteering at Baptist Health. You could find him at the front desk with a big smile on his face and warm welcome. Jimmy was sweet, loving, hard-working, and had a heart for serving the Lord.
