Mike is known for his youth services as an altar boy at Saint Andrew’s Catholic church in Little Rock. He was a 1963 graduate of Catholic High in Little Rock as well. Mike served honorably for 4 years in the United States Navy, stationed at White Sands, New Mexico. Mike was a man of intellect and many “million dollar” words; always educating anyone who would listen on the latest political news and events of the world.
Those who knew Mike the best would say that he had an adventurous soul, whether his adventures were “studying” the horses at Oaklawn Park or “studying” the odds of the casino, his adventures, however many he lost, always had the best of intentions.
Mike was an avid fisherman that loved to spend time on the lakes and rivers of Arkansas; fishing with his sons, brother, and friends; although his fishing excursions may not have been as ideal for the company he kept as his sarcasm, snake tricks in the boat, and his competitive nature kept the energy aroused.
His most favorite person in the world was his brother, R.L. Dumond; No matter how many swings they took at each other, boat paddles broke over the head, or quick swimming get-a-ways as R.L. confronted his brother’s competitive nature.
There was always a time in everyday life that Mike would sing random song lyrics. He loved the songs that told his life’s story. Mike always had a sarcastic story that would put you into tears of laughter.
Mike’s final words of endearment were, “I love all of my children.” “I love all of my grandchildren.” “Don’t ever forget it.”
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Monday, November 29th, 2021, at PineCrest Memorial Park Funeral Home in Alexander, AR. A visitation service will be held at 11:00 am and a funeral service will follow at 12:00. All friends and family are welcome.
