On March 18, 2024, Kurt L. Peters passed from this temporary world into the true one he will inhabit forever. Born to Carl T. and Patty J. Peters in Morrilton, Arkansas, on October 4, 1962, Kurt leaves behind a family for whom he wasn’t just a husband, father, son, and brother, but a role model and hero with a knack for helping everyone around him enjoy life to its fullest.
Those who will miss him the most include his wife of almost 38 years, Angie; his precious new granddaughter, Natalie Peters; his kids, Nick and Heather Peters (Benton), Lindsey Peters and Andrew Rindahl (Little Rock), and Erin Peters and Zack Knapp (Benton); his mother, Patty Peters (Jacksonville); his siblings, Greg and Teresa Peters (Sherwood); Lisa and Richard Weaver (Greenbrier); and countless others he loved so much, including Reagan and Holden Hedgepeth; Katie and Tommy Gheen; Molly Peters-Stanley; Jessica Peters; Connie and Bob McNees; Casey, Heath, Jessalyn, and Conner Jones; Chris, Gavin, and Everlee McNees; Megan Bailey and Carson Jones; and many beloved cousins. He also leaves behind a special group of co-workers who—during his 38 years of diligent and rewarding employment at Dillard’s, where he was director of accounting for the store planning and construction department—became and remained close friends.
Among those greeting him in heaven were his dad, Carl Peters; his brothers, Jeff and Eric “Ricky” Peters; and Angie’s parents, Bob and Vicki Rogers.
Kurt was a born wanderer and explorer; at any given time, you never knew where his curious mind and restless feet might take him. Now, his family rests in the comfort of knowing exactly where he is at all times: with his Almighty Father and Maker. And although they are no longer able to follow him physically, they will continue to try to follow his example of befriending and providing unbidden care for “the least of these,” whether that meant cooking (one of Kurt’s favorite pastimes and special skills) for a struggling young couple camped out on the beach or swapping stories and sharing laughs—and a helping hand—with the homeless.
For all his wanderings, he was always in the right place at the right time, showing up for the ones he loved. Kurt’s generous spirit, inexhaustible positivity, playfulness, common touch, and love of God will live on forever in those who loved him back.
The family would like to thank the UAMS oncology team—especially Alyssa and Greg— as well as his caregivers Jamie, Alex, Lavonia, and Shirley of Arkansas Hospice for their excellent care of Kurt.
A celebration of life will be held in Jacksonville, Arkansas, from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday. Please contact family members for further details. Memorials may be made to the Little Rock Compassion Center.
