Larry Sr. leaves in cherished memory his wife of 42 years Beverly J. Larry Sr. accepted Christ at an early age. He was an active member of New Hebron Baptist Church and Greater Paradise Baptist Church. Eventually Larry Sr., wife Beverly and their family joined St. Mark Baptist Church where they are active members. For many years Larry Sr. and his wife Beverly served in the Media Ministry and leaders of a couples ministry group. Those relationships built are still special and long lasting memories that will always be cherished forever.
Larry Sr. meant the world to many people... He definitely left a legacy for his family and all that knew him. The community was his extended family. This was demonstrated by volunteering through the following: coaching his sons' teams and other boys at Penick & Billy Mitchell’s Boys and Girls Clubs. He also enjoyed spending quality time at the community gardens planting and harvesting vegetables for all to enjoy. Larry Sr. loved fishing, traveling and spending with family and friends. He was proud and supportive of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
He was always a hard worker in his career at Pepsi, Reynolds, and later retired from Johnson and Johnson. Even after retirement he continued to serve by working part time at K & W Tax Services. He was one that knew a little about everything… and could fix just about anything.
He also was the chef of the family and always opened his home to all.
He was truly loved by many and will be missed by all. Larry A. Harris Sr. was the “Rock” of our family… although gone in the physical realm Larry Sr. will remain in our hearts and minds until we meet again…
He will always be remembered, because there will never be another one to replace him in our hearts, and we will always have love for “Big Larry”.
