He was a proud graduate of Sheridan High School in 2016 and pursued his higher education at Williams Baptist University (WBU). He graduated in May of 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in education. During his time there, he excelled as a student and achieved the highly esteemd title of being named an All-American Collegiate Heavyweight Wrestler. Maleek’s passion for wrestling extended beyond personal achievements; he went on to generously dedicate his time to coaching and mentoring young athletes with the North Little Rock High School and Arkansas Wrestling Academy's wrestling teams.
He was happiest outdoors, whether fishing, hunting, or enjoying time at the gun range, and he never turned down the chance to relax with a good glass of whiskey and a big plate of food!
Above all else, Maleek cherished his family. The greatest joy of his life was the birth of his daughter, Lainey. He deeply adored her and shared a loving bond with the love of his life, MaKena. His selflessness and unwavering fight were defining traits that left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Maleek’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void, but his memory will forever serve as a source of comfort and inspiration. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the cherished memories he created. He is now with the Lord and fishing in Heaven with his Pawpaw Caton, Aunt Nette, and Sebastian. His loving and protective spirit will always be with us.
Maleek was survived by his partner Makena Cramer, daughter Lainey Joe Caton, “Oh Motha” Glenda Caton, sister Kobe Johnson, “Mama Flo” Flora Johnson, sister Darria Jones, four nieces: Emiliana Torgerson, Kinley, Aaryn, & Journey Jones as well as an abundance of other loving and supportive extended family members and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone for the prayers, love, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time and throughout the past several months. Your presence and compassion have meant more than words can express.
We also extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of UAMS and BHEC for the extraordinary love, concern, and care given to Maleek and our family- far beyond what was required. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held on August 29, 2026 with details to come.
