Michael George Hartzell earned his wings and went to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday December 29. Mike was a loving father and grandfather: devoted brother and friend. Mike served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam war, he was employed for many years as a Senior Account Representative at the Arkansas Gazette and then finished his working career with the Arkansas Department of Human Services where he retired in 2011. He was born in Nebraska but moved to Arkansas in high school and graduated from Catholic High. After his military service, he went on to graduate from UALR. He loved all sports and coached both soccer and basketball when his daughters were young. He was a serious fan of the Arkansas Traveler's and loved all things Razorback!

Mike is preceeded in death by his parents Don and Margie Hartzell and his brothers Danny, David and Nathan. He is survived by his sisters: Debbie Glasgow Stearle of Little Rock and Donna Green, (John) of Oklahoma City, OK; and sisters-in-law Martha Hartzell and Sheila Hartzell both of Little Rock. He will be forever held in loving memory by his daughters: Jillian Wright, (George) of Malvern AR and Camilla Hartzell (Marquita) of Rockport TX and grand children: Landen Bailey, Brooklynn Bailey and Olivia Hartzell-Brown.

I'm in shock. Mike and I worked together at Dept. of Human Services and became close friends. Mike and I talked frequently. He was quite a man.
As hard it is to realize he is no longer here, I'm grateful that he
will no longer suffer or be in pain.
I'll miss you friend and never forget you.

Mike and I graduated from Catholic High together in 1965. He was a great baseball fan and often attended get togethers with his 1965 classmates. A friendly guy and loyal ! He will be greatly missed
