

Nathan was clever and quick-witted and could make people laugh by turning a word or phrase on a dime to make it funny. From a young age he loved reading and devoured books his entire life. He was a University of Arkansas Gifted & Talented Scholar in 2004 & 2005 and participated in the 2004 Duke University 7th Grade Talent Search for Mathematically and Verbally Talented Students. He graduated from North Little Rock High School in 2009 and enrolled in the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Later he attended Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock. Nathan also loved camping, fishing, skateboarding and playing the guitar.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Harold Scott Long and Cora Nadine Long (Pop & Granny) and Harold Norman Shirley and Jo Ann Shirley (Mamaw & Papaw). He was the 4th great-grandson of Chief of the Choctaw Nation in 1882, Chief Jackson Frazier McCurtain.
Nathan is survived by his parents Tom and Gaye Long of North Little Rock, Arkansas; sibling Nat Long (Aspen) of Maumelle, Arkansas; three uncles Larry Scott Long (Bonnie) of Silver Springs, Florida, Kenny Long (Emely) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Hal Shirley of Maumelle, Arkansas and nine 1st, 2nd & 3rd cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00a.m. Friday, November 14, 2025, at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas with burial immediately following. Services in care of Pinecrest Funeral Home in Alexander, Arkansas.
