Roel proudly served the United States and in 1978, after 21 years, retired from the U.S. Air Force. Beyond his military career, he lived a full life marked by curiosity, friendship, and humor.
In his younger years, Roel was an accomplished bowler. Later, golf became his lifelong passion. He loved playing with his buddies and especially looked forward to their monthly lunches together. A lover of science fiction, Roel was a deep thinker who explored life’s mysteries and the possibilities of the afterlife. An avid reader, he made books a part of his daily routine. One of his favorite philosophical quotes was “There are three truths: My truth, your truth and THE truth.”
Roel is survived by his daughters, Alecia L. Rupert, Shawn M. Gorritz and his Grandson, Alexander Rupert, along with many dear friends who will miss his wisdom, humor, and companionship.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Pine Crest Memorial, 7401 Highway 5 N, Alexander, AR 72002
