Sammy owned and operated Indian Express trucking for 20 years. He and Annette then opened Three Sam’s BBQ Joint in Mabelvale; after 20 years they chose to sell so the family could take care of Sammy through this terrible illness. While they owned Three Sam’s BBQ Joint, they were voted in as Nominees to the Arkansas Restaurant Hall of Fame, and won the Best Pie in Arkansas for their Peanut Butter Pie.
Sammy’s home was where his son’s friends could come to hang out and learn how to work on their cars. It was a major hub for the friends to stay, if they needed to, or get a home cooked meal.
Sammy is survived by his wife of 34 years, Annette Jones; son, Sammy “Sam” Russell Jones, Jr.; sisters, Jayme Jones of Little Rock, and Karen Painter of Jonesboro; and many friends and extended family.
Memorial Graveside will be 11:00 am, Thursday September 28, 2023, at Forest Hills Cemetery in Alexander.
