
Suzanne “Suzie” Godelfer (née Collord), age 76, died in hospice care after a long illness on August 4, 2026, surrounded by family. Mrs. Godelfer was born July 21, 1950, at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Irving Richard Collord Jr. and Barbara Collord (née Bultman). In addition to her parents, Suzanne is preceded in death by her brother, Rick Collord; her grandparents; and her aunts and uncles.
She spent most of her life in Metairie, Louisiana, where she lived for nearly 70 years before moving to Benton, Arkansas, during the final five years of her life to be closer to her children and their families.
Throughout her career, she worked as a medical and legal transcriptionist, a profession that reflected her exceptional attention to detail and dedication to her work. She was also a lifelong fan of the New Orleans Saints and proudly cheered for her hometown team through the years.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Genin Godelfer Jr.; her sons, Eric (Karen) and Daniel (April); her daughter, Casey Polk (David); six grandchildren; her sister, Cynthia Clerico (Clay); and three nephews.
At her request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to an animal welfare charity of the donor’s choice.
